End-to-End Build: The Instant Lead Response System

Lesson 1.6 of Module 1 · 10 min · Free

What you’ll learn

Build the complete, sellable version of the Lesson 1.3 demo: instant response to the lead, structured capture, owner notification, one scheduled follow-up, and a failure alert — the anatomy from Lesson 1.4, fully assembled.

After this lesson you can: import, adapt, and activate the full system for a demo business, show it working live (the exact demo used to sell it in Module 4), and explain every node in client language from Lesson 1.5.

Step-by-step

1. Blueprint first
Name every part before building: Trigger (form) → Data (name, phone, service, message) → Logic (Status column) → Actions (log, reply, alert, follow-up) → Safety net (error workflow). Demo business: Summit Roofing (fictional, labeled).

2. Capture + instant reply
Import the starter template, connect credentials in the vault. Sheets log gets a Status column starting at “New” — the system’s memory. The instant reply thanks them by name, confirms the exact service, promises a real callback time, and signs as the business’s office — it never pretends to be a human employee.

3. Owner alert + follow-up
Owner alert with one-tap-to-call details. Then a Wait node and an IF check on the Status cell: still “New” after the window → follow-up #1 goes out; “Contacted”/”Booked” → the workflow ends quietly.

4. Honest timing
Instant paths (reply, alert) fire from the form trigger itself. Scheduled checks run on intervals — on Make’s free plan the minimum is 15 minutes. Say “replies are instant, follow-ups are timely” — never promise precision your stack doesn’t have.

5. The safety net
A separate Error Trigger workflow: any failed execution alerts the owner. Test it deliberately — break a credential, submit a lead, watch the alert arrive anyway.

6. Live fire test
Editor closed. Submit a lead from your phone like a customer. Watch the reply, the owner alert, the sheet row, and the follow-up — in order. This exact sequence is the sales demo in Module 4.

Key numbers in this lesson

  • Make free plan: 15-minute minimum interval for scheduled checks
  • Instant paths fire from the trigger itself — seconds, not intervals
